Why are my Cucumbers Yellow?

Question: I noticed that when my cucumbers were pickle size they were a nice green colour, now some of them are turning 'round' and are yellow..what did I do? I watered alot everyday.

Answer: There are some varieties of cucumber that are supposed to be yellow- including the Lemon cucumber. If, however, these are not the variety you planted, than the cucumbers are over-matured. The last step in the maturation process before the rotting and seed spill-out for a cucumber is for the skins to turn yellow. In extremely hot weather this can occur extremely quickly. Even if the cucumbers do not seem to be of a large size, you will want to pick them earlier than you have been anticipating. Hope this helps!
