Question: Ok my birthday was Sunday so i took my yellow birth control pills so my period would not come on my birthday and now i'm ready for it to come. My question is do i have to take the white pills for it to come or will it come if i just don't take any pills? I know when i stop taking my yellow pills it takes about 3 days before it usually comes. I thought my doctor told me before that you don't have to take the white pills.

Answer: Definitely don't stop taking you pills. I know that the Yasmin brand is yellow & white- If that is the kind that you are on, there should be 21 yellow pills and 7 white pills. The yellow are considered 'active' and the white are 'inert'. These white pills do not have any hormones in them (just a small amt of iron). You are getting your period not because of the white pills, but because you are no longer taking ones with hormones (the yellow ones.) Just finish all of your pills and your cycle will begin soon after you last yellow pill. Hope that helps.
